the IT accessory

A girl can't have too many pairs of shoes as she can't have too many bags. I might have altered the meaning just a little bit but in real life it is exactly like this. I used to buy shoes and shoes and some more shoes, but since I'm a working girl, I had to give up heels and flats just don't appeal to me so now I only buy what I need. I don't say that I no longer lust for a great pair of shoes but let's get down to earth, I don't have the opportunity to wear them. The alternative: BAGS. Who can't stop me from wearing a beautiful bag when I go to work? It's not like I'm abusing it, like some celebrities do (read this). This morning I surfed  net-a-porter.com and let me tell you the have a great selection of designer bags. Unfortunately even on sale this bags exceed my budget.

Bottega Veneta | Intrecciato leather shoulder bag $1, 250

Alexander Wang | Prisma leather tote $685

Valentino | Rockstud New Dome leather bucket tote $2,145
Reed Krakoff | Boxer leather tote $990
Eternal bags that are worth the investment. I could wear them for years,if only I could afford one (sight...)

focus on: Maria Lucia Hohan

I first heard of Maria Lucia Hohan when she designed the wedding dress for TheCherryBlossomGirl. I didn't knew who she was so I goggled her. And surprise!!! She is a Romanian designer. It's the first Romanian designer that has her collection exposed at L'Eclaireur, the most famous concept store from Paris. Beside, her designs are worn by celebrities like Selena Gomez, Jennifer Hudson, Nicole Scherzinger, Demi Lovato.
Her creations are so fairy-like, layered with delicious silk ruffles in pastel colors. Her S/S 2012 collection is bold but still very feminine. Lots of dramatic gowns, some more color than usual (now she experimented with shades of red, green and black), silk, tulle ruffles, organza  the perfect ingredients for delicious dresses.

You must love her. Check her entire collection here.

the day before Dior

DIY. PEPLUM

For two seasons now, this trend is hunting me. Remember Jill Sander's S/S 2011 collection ? I instantly felt in love with the pelpum, may it be a top or a skirt.
So I've been searching for the ideal one, and the only two options, here in Romania, were at H&M. Or I could order it from Asos, which has a lot more options. But, instead I preferred to make my one peplum. So I used the upper side from a leather dress that I have altered some time ago, and sewed the bottom part. I couldn't say it was a piece of cake because I still develop my sewing skills, but I love the final result. What I love most is the mix of leather and stripes. I can't wait to wear it. I promise you a full post with the outfits.

ps: peplum skirt coming soon. A few more details and it's ready to be unveiled.

first look: Marni for H&M S/S 2012

  1. Sass and bride S/S 2012
  2. Dior S/S 2011
  3. unknown
  4. Tom Binns
  5. Mango 2fluor-T C
I adore them all, although for some I might have to take a loan.
What is your favorite?

Back to Black

I've just seen Jean-Paul Gaultier's Spring 2012 couture show and I'm speechless.  The collection is a tribute to Amy Winehouse's style, and I just love it!!! Nobody would have done it better than Gaultier. The giant beehive, cigarettes in hand, heavy eyeliner, burlesque inspiration, dramatic dresses, menswear; PERFECTION.
If you haven't seen it make sure to check style.com. Hope you'll love it as much as I do. Enjoy!

ps:  speeking of big hair, I think Jean-Paul Gaultier is in. And a little something to remind you of Amy Winehouse.

makeup your mind

A few days back I read a post on Coco'sTeaParty on big hair. And guess what? Now I see it everywhere. Take for example this Elle Sweden editorial for February. Frida Gustavsson plays the role of fashion victim with a daring mix of rockabilly fashion, heavy lashes inspired by Twiggy and lip liner inspired by Brigitte Bardot.

favoritism

I'm a huge fan of Christian Dior haute-couture shows and this year doesn't make an exception. I'm in love with the full skirts and the dramatic dresses from the end. Here are some of my favorites:

Sheer layers, embroidery, nude, crocodile pattern. Bill Gaytten did a good job, but still,  if I were to choose, I'd  go for Galliano .
